Engine is dead and I need to drag the machine. How do I release the brakes on this machine. I am assuming it has some sort of hydraulic lock that engages automatically when the engine dies. Not able to find much online. Thanks for any help in advance. Regards, Alan
Usually u need to pressurize the brake pack... Either it has a dedicated service port, or its by the main hydraulics(GB Hydraulics)... but i can´t help more than that as is a Komatsu . But search this direction and u guys may figure it out. Even Excavators work like this, there is a circuit for releasing Brakes, either it is included in the Brake/steer system or its a dedicated one. But i bet K has a dedicated port, cause i´ve seen a video of somebody doing it, just dont remember wich unit was or where did i saw that.
I don't know your exact machine but on the newer dash 12 machines the park brake is activated by the safety lever (not sure if that is exactly what it is called) that is down in front of the left joystick lever. Down is locked and up is free.
No problem to release the brakes as the foot peddle controls this, put your foot on the peddle and the brakes are on, well 1 brake if you want 2 brakes press both, if you want a Park Brake press the peddle and you will find the ratchet lever on your right, the D65A-E and P Series 6. 7. and 8 have no spring applied brake system, so you have nothing to pressurize or pump up, the engine in the Dash 6 is a Cummins NH220 CI why is it unable to run???
Even easier ... did not knew those early TC KOM machines had no Emergency Stop feature. always learning something everiday.
Figured out the brakes. Not sure, just bought it. One cylinder head is partially removed. No history available. Project for the coming year.
The Komatsu's I have and have operated its a matter of pushing down on the peddles and flip down either the little lever by hand or with my heal on one of them . One way or another the hydraulics would need to be charged to release the steering clutches for a tow .
No issues towing the D65E it will drag about and be turned any way needed with a dead engine if you pull it with anything with a bit of power, the Cummins engine is not set the same as a standard type Truck engine, the injector setting torque is lower.
