We have komatsu d85-18 old dozer which has cummins engine. Its has following problems. 1. Diesel flows to the oil sump. 2. It is very hard to start. After starting it emits heavy white color smoke for a few minitues. we service the injector pump, add new repair kit, change floater but problem not fixed. Is this problem due to wear and corrosion of the engine head?
Does it smoke white if it idles for ten minutes and then you go back to work? My thoughts would be a bad injector lobe on the camshaft. Pull the oil pan and have somebody turn the engine over by hand, while looking up at the cam.
Thanks Wytruckwrench for your quick reply. yes. Thats right. after 10 minutes that heavy white smoke ends. Actually injector timing is ok. we did as you said before. and also repaired the PT pump too . serial number of this machine is: 25783 model- D85-18 . can anyone please help me???
Does it have a separate fuel transfer pump, besides the injection pump? Never seen a Komatsu, but there aren't many places to leak diesel into the crankcase oil. Does it leak diesel into the engine sump while sitting? or only slowly while running? Have you checked the injectors? A leak down and compression test at the same time the injectors are out would tell you a lot.
