Lasers, GPS, and 3D

WOW :bouncegri what an interesting area.. :notworthy Started looking last night online at some of the different 3d, Laser, and GPS solutions avaiable. I'm new to all of this and looking for real world use and opinions of these gizmos. The 3d looks to be the mack dady of all, input your map and elevations for each point on the map and start grading, GPS and laser and you got your self just about any shape you want in the ground. Looks to be the most expensive :crying and sometimes the simplest solution once you start. :notworthy GPS looks like it just lets you know where your at XYZ and you have to "think" XYZ about where you want to go and then get there. Laser looks to be more of a manuall solution. You know where the laser is in the Z, and you measure up and down to find the light at curent location to find out how much of a differance you have and then compute it into the desired needed elevation. hmmmm Please let me know if im wrong on any of this. I know the big Q is what will I use this all for. Curently im just getting started, thinking though grading, Site prep, foundations, some drainage, septic tanks, ETC. Not interested in, roads, runways, etc. Figure I'll use it on a Skidsteer, min ex and dozer Is there any manufactures to stay away from? or must go with? Any systems that are a must have? any other ideas? Thanks
