After getting our machine operational in our resurrection efforts we're now getting back to the point of adjusting pump pressures for pumps 1 & 2 since we don't know what was done by the previous owner. After replacing the pilot pump and bearings in the pump the pilot pressure is set to specs but Boom and Arm functions are slow. Both Travel motors seem to be fine power-wise so there is at least good pressure from the pump sections as each motor is driven separately from each of the two. Swing seems strong too, though our judgement comes from from inexperience and we don't realize how much more power can be had when pressures are properly set. I need to identify two things to set main pump pressures according to the service manual specs: On the pump body are five hex socket adjusters, upper and lower on each side, and one larger one to the rear (closest as you're looking at the pump from the door). I might guess that these are adjustments for the two high pressure pump sections 1 & 2, the larger one being for pressure relief. Is this correct? Thanks...-Tom
The hydraulic pressure adjustment for the system is on the control valve. It's should be close to the bottom of the valve stack.
Many thanks Coy. Should we be looking at the front, rear, left, or right side of the valve stack, and what should it look like? The close quarters on the main valve assembly don't look particularly inviting!
