Hi guys.. new to the forum and the business. Looking at a Volvo EC160b 2006 with about 1000hrs. It has plumbing so ill put a thumb on it. But I'm wondering what a fair hourly rate is for that machine? Would manly be loading a wood grinder for a contractor. Any input is great. Thanks.

i tink for a 160 we charge about the same as a 200 about a $120hr with operator .what kind of wood grinder you loading if you havent done it before watch where you sit

Yes watch where you sit, and have the remote in your cab!!!!!! Don't pick up any dirt/sand, dirt is what wears out hammers on these things! Make sure you blow off the muffler or any other hot surfaces of wood chips after your done for the day because you don't want to come back in the AM to a burned up machine! What type and make grinder you going to be loading?

Believe its a horizontal grinder by rotochopper. I was thinking 100/hr just to secure the job. would be there 20-30hrs/week. Wouldnt have to look for other work.

you know thats not a bad plan to get into the door and its not hard on equipment .with a the same style of grinder dont load it from behind just over the sides stuff can fly backwards out of there like a missle. good luck

Thanks. You think a 16 ton machine is safice? Would like a bigger machine but for cost and versatility i was thinking 12-16 ton is a good fit. I do have excavating experience. about 200 hrs on a bladerunner and a few 1000 on my 2 mini's. Although the big machines are new to me i'm not staring out with zero experience.

you'll be fine just get yourself one with a thumb and some gaurding on the front window and keep it down
