With the last few years downturn it seems log trucks in the NW are in short supply, anyone else having troubles finding trucks?
I have two trucks ready to go to work right now .get back to me
A lot of the guys have just given up. And with fuel probably going to five bucks I think a lot more of them will, too. There's enough trucks for now but we're not real busy yet, either.
who needs trucks? Mumblin Moe
The rate the timber companies are paying keeps alot of them home and many have sold out. I have been considering buying a couple new trucks just to haul our own wood and subbing them out when we dont need them. Just not a real big incentive to do so though but yes we are having an increasingly harder time finding quality truckers to haul.
Not in the northwest but in Alberta trucks are a big concern...to the point they've been bringing drivers from all over Canada the last few years. Problem is rising costs, short season due to a primarily winter harvest, and massive competition from the oil patch for qualified drivers. Lots of trucks around but drivers to have them move were a major concern and each company has changed the way they operate as a result.
