Always had a Bobcat looking at a Gehl and thoughts good or bad. Problems or what to look for. Thanks

    Simple and affordable

I've owned a boat load of them and like them, but, like every machine, have their downsides. What model?

    2010 6640e

The 6640's are very good machines. Be aware that the hydraulics can typically whine more than Bobcat. Not an issue long-term, imo, but I've had more that were louder than quieter in that department. They are simple and easy to work on. Duetz is all oil cooled, so no anti-freeze to deal with. Some head gasket issues, but they are not hard to resolve. Timing belts every 2k hours. Lots of lift and pushing power with it. Almost unstoppable with OTT tracks. Lift arms are massive and prohibit good side visibility when down, but are very difficult to twist (and untwist for that matter). Make sure they come down on the bump stops evenly. A small amount of uneveness is ok, loook at bucket cutting edge for even wear both sides. Fenders get in the way too, I like to see the tops of the tires like Case. Towers in the back prohibit good rear visibility like New Holland LS and L series have. Lower arm to bucket pins are a pain to change out. Quick attach system (levers and springs) is ok...could be better designed. More positive qualities in that machine than negatives. Typically a high hour machine even with the turbo if taken care of. Parts are not bad cost-wise or availability. Lots of dealers around.

Not sure about that model but my 7800 is wonderfully non "electronicly dependant" and very relyable. The long wheelbase makes it hard on tires but very stable and the Yanmar engine is a peach. Compared to most "modern" machines of today, it's a dinasaur at only about 10 years old, but so am I

Seems they always go flat on the bottom, Junkie. ... hardly ever see a flat on the top!
