Loss of Air Pressure

Eric Wallace ยท 2018-11-28 11:25

Hi there What causes loss of air pressure on caterpillar 950b front-end loader? Once the vehicle is being accelerated, the pressure is fine. However it looses instant pressure when the brakes is engaged, or the gas is released.

My guess would be a rather large air leak. Likely culprit would be foot valve, relay valve etc depending on how that machine is setup. Could be as simple as a line or tank. Pressure up with shop air and find the leak. Should be quite audible based on your description.

check the air over hyd. brake boosters and the park brake run full throttle then shut machine off and listen for air leaks the park brake hand valve is another spot to check other than that maybe a line

Thank you! We actually did this, and changed the foot valve but the problem still persisted. We also changed 2 of the lines hoping that would fix it, but still didn't work. I'll see if there is another valve

Thank you! We will try this out and see

my bad I was thinking 930 950 has air brakes still same just keep fixing leaks if you have a air compressor you can keep the tank charged and look for the leaks. I think that the neutralizer valve is air too can leak into tranny

Could be the check valve from the air compressor to the tank. Works ok until the aircompressor shuts off, and then the air comes back to the compressor until the compressor kicks back on.
