What should a buyer look for on a Lull 844 as far as problem areas? Also, what tests should be performed prior to purchase? Thank you.

Basically the same things you would look over on any other machine. Steering knuckles, carriage tilt seals and bushings where they connect on the rear ends, rear ends, the traversing rollers and wear guides, rear hoses are a problem on these where they enter the back of the boom, check around all pins for cracks around the perimeters and or damage to the pins, cylinder seals, forks, transmission shifting through all gears, booms true and go smoothly in and out/ no tweaks. Tires arent cut gouges or chunked out.

If you are looking at a C series there is a weak spot where the front crossmember ties into the frame rail over the front axle. (I believe there was a field kit to reinforce the area) The next weakest spot is where the top flange of the side frames tie into the rear frame structure. Both areas can be repaired, just need to inspect. The ZF trans is solid and the Dana axles are pretty good, ZF axles not so much. IceStationZebra
