Neighbor has a 92 Mack CH with a E7 engine. Engine kept dieing after about 1/2 hour running,he changed all fuel hoses with no succes in solving the problem After the engine stalls it will start up right away again and run for a couple minutes and stall again, turn the key and it fires up and runs again for a couple min A new Injection pump installed did not change a thing other than the mill runs now for an hr before stalling for the first time after cold start. Injection pump has the electronic governor We are stumped to what can cause this:beatsme Anybody ??
Is the lightning bolt (check engine light) coming on in the dash when it dies
Is 92 new enough to have lightning bolt light? My 91 does not. I would go through whole fuel system from tanks foreword. Seems to me it is getting starved for some reason.
check the fuel cut off solenoid on the fuel pump and see if it has a short. Sounds like the heat from the motor is causing something to expand and possibly short out. Just an idea for ya
fuel shutoff sol came new with the IP Fuel supply is up to par I don't think the idiot light came on(forgot to ask) no codes. Owner tried 2 diff ECM's prior to me installing new IP( IP not my idea) Old IP was 9 degree to far advanced, owner complained Truck was gutless. New IP is timed right,Engine runs much better now, but initial problem still there
I had An R model do that and it was the solenoid under the dash .just a thought check for power where it should be when it dies
Thanks for the replies so far. Update. Yellow check engine warning light comes on most times but not always when the engine stalls. No codes stored. Owner says,Under dash solenoid apears to be buzzing at times, jumping it did not make a diff .A new one will go on on monday.
