Mack Tranny Stuck in Reverse

MACKMAN232 ยท 2013-08-14 06:57

Hey everyone, I have a 2004 Mack Granite CV713 with a maxitorque 10 Speed trans. It is stuck in reverse, the splitter moves back in forth, but does not disengage. It also seems like the trans is getting pressurized. Any help would be great thanks!

if its a multi speed reverse (f/r air button on side of shift nob) mine has done it twice now in about 5 years the last time was fun driver was milling a bridge@ nite about 6 miles from the shop. called me the next morning said stuck in reverse parked on side of road in grass half loaded (Quad axle) and started raining so I get there jump in take off down the road (backwards,3 red lites) changing gears made it to the shop in about 15 mins .good fun oh sorry back to the problem theres a air operated slave cyld mounted on the bottom side of the rear top cover on the trans. not the one with the gear shifter. take center floor board out. follow the two air lines its probley blowing air out trans vent when you flip air button to forward if so take this cover off. if truck has dual exhaust you will have to take left side pipe off so you can get cover up be careful when lifting cover. in each end of slave cyld there is a approx. 3/4 steel plug with o-ring around it and internal snap ring holding it in the snap ring.it is probley broke and missing my plug has always been turned side ways( luckey) and stuck. if its not in there its in down in trans. Go MACK get new snap rings and o-rings for both sides F/R even if other side is not broke it will be next week. I think it breaks these snap rings because you do not have a neutral position on air button so it slaps back and forth against plugs and breaks the snap rings. good luck let me know if this helps

Hello we are having the same issues on a 2003. Stuck in reverse and when I press the switch to put it in forward -nothing. When putting in in forward should I hear something engaging? Better yet, do you know where I can find a transmission air line diagram or service manual?
