I have a job I am bidding that has some silty soils on it. There is 10%-15% passing the #200 sieve. The spec calls for me to dig out the top 18" and replace with structural fill that has at max 8% passing the #200 sieve. The question is can I do some sort of mixing to eliminate the disposal and replacement of fill. There is 6,000 tons of fill the would need to get removed and replaced. I want to bring in 2,000 ton or whatever it is to mix into the 4,000 of the 6,000 tons to make 6,000 tons of useable material. Is this practical? I dont think I can screen out just the #200 sieve without loosing all my fines.
