Did a few thousand hours on one in NZ. The track gear was like sun baked spaghetti. The rest of them wasn't to bad but Hitachis arrived on the market and made them look very ordinary.

My former bought 2 brand new in 1969 and 1970 and had bought a few others used along the way. He said they were one of the 1st really advanced excavators. He claimed to have put 30,000 hours on one (engine was rebuilt). The 6 cylinder Perkins had exceptionally good fuel economy. A member on another forum had several ** machines including a 450S and said it didn't really have any weak points. I've also read where an operator said they were fast and powerful. If there was a flaw it was that the track drive was very slow by todays standards. Not many around anymore. They used the same undercarriage as the MF300 dozers and loaders which is no longer available. I believe they were introduced in 1967 and lasted till sometime in 1978. Designed in the US and built in Italy.
