this is the machine i operate as my main job, its a cat 345 long reach with 24m outreach. we also have a 375 long reach, its a bit of an animal to drive though, my boss is also thinking of ordering a cat 365 long reach to compliment the fleet.
nice pics, you got any of the 375. what do you mainly with the long reaches?
dredging, trim railway embankments , excavate lagoons and sometimes use a soil nail drill rig on the end of the dipper for slope stabilisation. the 375 is on the left , 345 on the right with soil nail rig on
found a few more of 375
nice pictures good to see something different, well i guess you don't have to worry about swinging into the truck,ha,ha
Nice machines looks like alot of fun to operate.
What is that a Klemm attachment? Any info on he soil nail rig would be appricated and more pics.
That is fantastic! How do you transport those from job to job. I would love to see pictures of that. Also, I run a 345cL, does that long reach set up make it very unstable swinging over the side?? Would love a crack at that sometime. Thanks, Eric.
we use this guy to transport them. the 345 will load on without taking the dipper off , the 375 has to have a low loader for the dipper. cat make the 345 with 19.5m outreach and wont extend it anymore, it then goes into finning cat to be stretched to 24m outreach as cat wont do it. it was unstable untill our fitter made the ballast box on the rear with 5 ton of wieght in, finning would not put one on even though it was unstable, said it would invalidate the slew ring warranty. dont know anything about the komatsu on the back of the low loader before anyone asks
low loader we use
Looks like some nice countryside there. I've heard of the soil nail rigs and watched a show on tv about an air powered one but it was basically setup on a truck type of rig.
the one i used worked off the breaker /hammer circuit and was an american made rig. problem is when you are at reach the wieght of the rig on the end of the stick makes the arm drop, and i you cant pick it up to adjust when the rig is using the hyd circuit, just hope they are quick with the drill
this is what i found , the outfit i was on hire to http://www.systems-geotechnique.co.uk/content/Comp_pro/Plant.htm
nice pics keep'em coming
Could someone elaborate more on the purpose of the soil nail rig?
Not to get off track to much, but was interesting seeing the windmills out in the water. Is that sea, lake or what?????Never thought of them putting them there. They are just starting to get going over here and they are all land based here that i have saw. Great pics ,thanks for sharing.:usa
Nice pics, we have had a few setup before for short jobs. One for a deep slurry wall ditch and a couple for dredging. Dragline or sauerman mostly for the dredging ones, but tough to get a "Level" bottom. Do you guys dig in fresh or salt water? The setups you guys run are much longer than what we had.
The job I'm working on right now a drilling crew has a drill mounted to a Cat 330CL. The drill is fairly simple, just drills holes and compressed air is used to blow the spoils out. Once the holes are drilled, nails are inserted (huge rebar with egg beater looking devies installed) Then the nails are concreted to the hole that was drilled. The job I'm on they're drilled to stabilize vertical walls, so after the nails are in, a heavy wire mesh is installed and shotcreted. The nails are then shacked to the face of the finished shotcrete. Pretty neat deal, never seen it done before until I got this job. Sorry for the threadjack, but good looking iron! That 375 is CLEAN! What year is it? I believe 375's were produced until '96 IIRC. Not bad for a 12+ year old hoe.
they are in the sea, we were placing stone over the cable that comes out of the bottom of the wind turbine to stop the cable breaking. we have quite a few out to sea wind farms around our coast, but have more inland
i have done a couple of slurry walls , they are a dirty job with all that bentonite running back down the boom onto the cab . we work both fresh and salt water, boss will do most hires except slurry walls
do you have anything like this in your country, i drive these on a weekend on the railway
Check the thread about the Deere 120C...I have never seen one but it would be cool to see one! Thanks for sharing those pics. Those long booms sure have a niche in the market.
whats with the extra pivot point in the boom?
for use in tight spaces or limited clearance
Never saw such kind of machine before, it's special ordered from Komatsu?
Chris have you seen this thing working at all?
Yeah. Called a 3 piece boom ( I know its only two piece) Most Rail ducks and Rubber Ducks have this config. Pretty Complex machine compaired to the "run-of-the-mill" Back-actor
I think its a 1992 year, its not a tidy as it looks in the pics, has got some guts in her for an old machine though, blows quite a few hyd pipes too
345 out of the cab view
Awesome pics!! I would love to take a whack at an LR hoe... just seems like it would be fun trying to pull a grade for like 90 feet or load a truck 60-70 feet away from you:notworthy
Hi Chris, only just tripped over your post seen W M crop up on quite a few high profile jobs. The Hitachi long reach on Oakes had a baffle plate welded around the 4 sides of the boom just back from the lift rams to stop the bentonite running all the way back down onto the machine. Yes I agree a dirty job
Rail BUG The base machine is indeed Komatsu or Kobelco but all the additions for rail work are done by a specialist, I think that Rail-Bug as its called weighs over 20t with the ballast its had added. http://www.philmor.com/
Saw some of these in a railyard. Kind of interesting way to place multiple ties.
hi rob,did you work for oakes, i had 2 years for them .... was on their hitatchi 370 long reach at preston for 3 months on a slurry wall in 2002 i think, had the welder in every 3 days to weld the cracks that kept appeering. did 3 years for amec on the london airports driving komatsu ducks also, then left when morgan est bought amec out
Small world Chris, yes I was with Oakes for about 5yrs, over 1 of them on the MAN lowloader and moved that Hitachi 370 several times, I took it into Freckleton ( Preston ) after it got stretched an extra 6' but that must have been around 1999/00 as I went on my own late 2001. This is before Oakes got in on the act. It got shortened at some point note baffle plate on boom, but stretched again which was after this picture and when I took it back to Preston, I think Martin ( Gold tooth ) was on it.
i went back to the same job as martin was holding out for more cash, still had that plate on when i drove it... but the slurry still went all over the cab. saw goldtooth 3 years ago on a duck ot stanstead when i was on for amec , he was working for killorey ( no sure how to spell it) but was not happy with the money.
See my signature...... ........ Hes on the ground now for Frankie Solutions. small world and Tim C that you probably answered to is with J D Demolition :drinkup
im saying nothing , did you work with sonny allinson... i had 9 months with him at kings lynn on hire to costain... he nearly drove me mental.... and i thought bradford jack was bad rob , are you the bloke they called drawbridge , i heard two drivers left before i started to go on thier own with ducks , good operators i was told:notworthy you keeping busy in your neck of the woods, our hire is finished around xmas time but most of the machine are still out at the moment
it is the first fime for me to see so long excavato. ha,ha
:lmao:lmao:guns NO! I was the Bob, he was the Rob I know of Sonny but never met, now, Bradford yes we go back a few years :thumbsup
i can see the light whats with all the big o spot lights on the big rig.id hate to meet him comming around the corner in middle of the night
went for a drink one night with bradford, after 3 pints he wanted to fight the landlady and then the rest of the pub ....time for a quick exit. when i told sonny i had worked with bradford he took great pleasure in telling me how they had turned bradford into a pisshead and how they used to get him drunk so he would wet down, bradford was one of the better foreman at oakes , he is a bit abrupt and tells you how it is ... but thats bettter than a couple of the other snakes i worked with there
had the pleasure of a look around this today
spare rams and teeth
