My new truck

Hey there all, having been reading your posts for a while now that I have something to share its my turn. First I am from down under but miles away from Squizzy (and thanks mate for you help full words before). I grew up on a farm driver tractors etc, and then had a job using forklifts/cranes and the odd hour in a bobcat I then ended up driving a furniture truck for a while but man thats hard work. Currently working in an office and after trying to get a job in this field without years of experience I have taken the plunge. The truck is a 1990 Mitsubishi with only 350,000 kms on it, is 320hp. Currently its still at the dealer and being sandblasted so that it can be repainted in blue, which we then have white signwriting to go on it. Have a Bobcat 753, being dropped off next week, and pick up a trailer for it as soon as the truck is ready. Yet to put out any adds but have 5-6 small jobs lined up to start with, plus some work with the truck on its own. Cant wait to get started.

Called in to the shop on the weekend to see how the trucks progressing, lots of work to do. They have sandblasted the chasis, and tipper and in the process of bring the cab back to bare metal, undercoat goes on this week. Have been told will be ready to hit the road in less than 3 weeks.

Good looking truck. :drinkup What kind of work are you planning on doing with it? What kind of payload are you able to carry with a truck like that? I see a couple mitsubishi's around here but have never seen one with tandems.

I have a Bobcat 753 coming, good neat machine and will be undertaking domestic work as in, site clearing, driveways and soil removal etc. We are having a building boom over here and dont see it stopping for a while. One of the reasons for starting this is we have just built a new house right in the middle of a growth area so hope theres enough twork to keep me going for a while. Not sure on the payload of the truck at this stage as we are changing a few things to keep the rego costs down but should be around 12 tonne. It has been B double rated, not sure if you guys have that over there but down under that basicly means as a prime mover you can put 2 trailers on behind (ones a little bit shorter). I went for a tandem tipper as I will be able to get some work just running the truck while I build up the skid steer work so we have money coming in to make the repayments. All starts in about 2 weeks time.

The Bitsamissing will do you good, they are a solid performer. 12.5 tonnes absolute max under the new regs, or about 8.5 cubes. A lot of guys are claiming 10 cubes in the 6 wheeler because thats the capacity of the tipper body. If you fill that chokkas and the heavies pull you over your gunna pay bigtime. You can always put a dog on behind if you need and its already plumbed. Head down bum up, it wont be easy but you will make a quid with a skid no worries.:thumbsup

The niggly problem with those Mitsies is the gear linkage, can be a real pain. Renew anything thats worn, grease and adjust regular.

Heres another pic with the paint on the body now. they said the painting should be finished by the end of the week, and then into the workshop for a full service, detail and seats etc re trimmed. Should look like a new truck when finished, and only has 350,000 kms on it.
