1988 dresser td8g lt 2700 hours 1000 hours on motor 150 hours since breaks and steer pads replaced also cleaned screen off back then as well! I don't run it more than an hour at a time or so! a couple years ago I lost third gear and was told expensive to fix or replace! so I just kept running it! now im slowly losing 2nd gear now! during summer months trans will get hot but takes an hour of hard pushing to do so! im assuming trans is going out! any advice would be great! also anyone know of a good place to buy these kinds of parts? gages on dash for pressures all say in the green so im assuming the pressure is correct but don't know much about these dozers!

Give Winmill equipment a call. They are located in New Hampshire.

Sounds like the 2700 hours isn't even close.

We have owned it since 1990 so pretty much brand new with only a 800 hundred hours on it! we hardly run it! it sits more than anything and that's prob what cause the most damage! so 2700 hours is original and I know the hour meter works!

Unless you kept running the machine while the packs were slipping it probably wouldn't be all the expensive a repair. On the early G models as I recall there was enough clearance to drop the transmission out the bottom of the machine. There were cast iron hook rings for seals in the clutch pack housings that would wear and break the little hooks on the ends. That would let the clutch pack pistons leak by and now the disks weren't being held hard against themselves. The working cold and slipping as the machine warms up is a sign of that. If you ran it with the packs slipping then that is a different story. Now you will have plenty of parts to replace. Good Luck
