The engine out of my cat 246 is dead. I need a perkins 3034, but am having difficulties finding this engine. Does anyone else know any other engines that would fit?
There should be a vendor close to the Bay Area for you here. There are tons of them out there: https://www.google.com/search?q=Per...&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=
Are you wanting to convert it or replace it?
They're avail used and refurb, but last one I priced was more than the machine was worth running. We have rebuilt them in house before what's wrong with yours exactly ? Pj
the bearings wore into the block, making the engine unrunnable now. i just need the engine block so i could replace it which was quoted at $2k at a cat dealer.
These engines can be had for $5000 in reman condition and it will be hard to retro fit another brand for much less. Some of these engines have a less than stellar track record but they can be a very good engine. Kubota will have some power units in the same size and power range but cost will be very similar. If you spend $2000 for a block and then buy a kit you are still in the $5000 range for just a repair. There are alot of perkins 704.30 engines out there so you might get lucky and find one on the cheap.
