just bought 2010 New Holland used for 3 days and fuel pump went out, replaced it and now won't start. When I turn key on I can hear fuel pump run continually does not stop. Is this correct or should it build pressure and stop?
Some do.. some don't.. Once the supply pump is running.. U have to loosen the fuel INLET LINE on the injection pump to let the air out.. Once u get fuel at the inlet, tighten the line.. NOW try to start it.. if it wont start & u KNOW u have fuel at the inlet.. loosen ALL the lines AT THE INJECTORS{or as many as u can} & try to start it.. wait for fuel to squirt outta the lines & then tighten them up.. It'll start now..
BTW> in the future when/if u post on a board.. don't put the engine or tractor mdl in the header.. PUT THE PROBLEM...
I can get fuel out of new fuel pump, but not to injectors.
New fuel pump?? supply pump or injection pump?? U said u got a new fuel pump.. that's the part that pull fuel from the tank & pushes it to the injection pump.. The inj/ pump has a BLEED SCREW on it.. open the dam thing until u get the air out.. THEN open the lines AT THE INJECTORS & crank till fuel comes out & NO AIR & tighten.. IF u did ALL that & it still wont pump to the injectors.. U got inj. pump problems.. I suggest strongly u don't take it apart.. NO MATTER how many breakdowns u find on the web.. Theres a lot of **** inside the pump they don't show u on those breakdowns & it'll really ruin your day if u try.
ok I opened the bleed screw on injector pump and got fuel to come out, so tightened back up and loosened all injector. turned it over for about 1 minute and got nothing. The machine only has just under 1300 hours on it.
Does it have an Electric shut off or Manual .. if its manual, make sure the CABLE moved the lever & not the outside sheath moving.. {happens all the time} IF its electric, remove the solenoid & test it.. for that matter, see if the engine starts. IF everything is hunky dory.. U got a pump problem.. U have fuel IN & none out..
That's it, the electric shut off. I removed it and it started and ran. Had to put it back in to shut it off, got one on the way Thanks thepumpguysc
U mighta jumped the gun.?? Is it getting power.??
Yes, I checked wire going to shut off and it had power, I started it and drove it inside, waiting for new shut off. New part should be here today. Thanks again
Put new shut off on and all is good, for about 20 minutes and then it will shut off. The fuel shut off is so hot you can't touch it. take it out cool down and it will run for 10 minutes.
Is that an adjustable solenoid w/a big nut on it.?? or does it just screw in until it stops w/ a gasket.?? Did u get an aftermarket sol.?? Did u actually check the voltage while it was running.??
It is not adjustable, screws directly into fuel injector pump with 1 wire connection. got solenoid directly from dealer. I did not check voltage while it was running. will check tomorrow
Yes, check the V while its idling & THEN check it at full throttle.. My thinking is maybe the tractor is over-charging..?? {alt.} They DO get hot, very hot but it shouldn't make it shutdown.
