Just purchased my first tbl. The pervious owner was very religous with greaseing the pins but not so much on changeing fluids..the rear end was black and the trans was slightly burnt looking..i dumped both oil and used the only oil i could find that was from princess auto. Is the oil in the picture suitable for my trans? My brakes are already workin 100 percent better even tho i know i need to do multiple flushes.. I cannot for the life of me find new holland 134 oil. Thanks!
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...ctor-trans-hydraulic-fluid-2-gal?cm_vc=-10005 , this is what I use, used for power steering, rearend, transmission info. on can saying meets 134,,
I'm sure it will work just fine.
Hmm on the power steering note..where is the resivor and drain for that. Im sure it needs done too. Thanks
take a couple hoses loose down below,,,,power steering pump will have a filter in it,,, its in the canister part of pump and is this resivior,,, not much good to flush without changing filters on all
Ok. Do you have a part number for filter or is it something i can take to napa and they will have it in stock? The nearest new holland dealer is 8 hours away from me round trip.
NAPA should have a listing for all filters,, if you plan on keeping backhoe you need a manual, check ebay, most people will help you on this site,, BUT not down to every nut and bolt sizes,,, you have do some research on your own,,, GOOD LUCK
Ok thanks..i plan to download the ahop manual onto my tablet. I have found fuel oil hydrolic and trans filter now...why the heck is that transmission filter 200 bucks..it doesnt look like anythinv speical and i see why its the only filter that looks oridginal on the machine..lol..i also can use a new holland part look up tool that give me a fair amount of diagrams.. https://partstore.construction.newh...orInc/parts-search.html#epc::mr64862ar1071165
Your link goes to the manual for a New Holland LB75. Go here for the 555E manual ---> https://partstore.construction.newholland.com/us/NashvilleTractorInc/parts-search.html#epc::mr55407 Thousands of the parts in the manual are superseded by a newer part number. Hold your computer curser (pointer) over the blue dot that has an exclamation mark in it and the new part number will appear. The filter shown in the image now has the part number 84343800. Less than $60.00. I take no responsibility if that is the correct filter for your 555e ! You will need to verify it yourself.
Thanks i just noticed today i had the wrong model in there..got it fixed now..
Something seems to be killing my battery. Even with the battery disconnect shut off it is still stone dead every time i go to start it..i even bought a brand new battery. Im kinda stumped on this one..with it running i got 14.xx volts so i oridginally ruled out a dead alternator but now im not sure..
Right off the bat, I'm suspicious of your battery connections. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my battery connections were not tight enough. So I would start with that and check your battery cables and the connections at your battery, starter, ground, etc.
I wouldn't trust your battery disconnect, charge it up good, then remove one battery cable, then let it sit a week, if it starts when you hook the battery up again, then the battery is probably fine and the disconnect is leaking, or something is still powered with the disconnect off.
Steering fluid is common to the rest of the hydraulic system. Change the system oil and filter and you are good on steering assuming it doesn't have any problems. I use the Travelers Premium oil from Tractor Supply in my 575E. Haven't had any oil related problems other than it being old and developing leaks.
Ah thanks that would explain why i cant find it..lol..taking the alt in today to see if it is working..my tach disnt work and from what i have read the tach in these is driven by the alt speed.
Check to see if you have a low AC voltage (like 7 volts) at the W connector on your alternator when running referenced to a good ground. If that is present, then the alternator is doing its part for the tachometer.
If you need an alternator or starter I have purchased both from https://www.dbelectrical.com/ .
Little update to this...the alternator checked out to be fine. I cleaned up a few connections and addes some terminal clamps to a few wires. However the big thing i have learnes is that the exciter wore needed to ground the alt case and not be on the 7v terminal. The pervious owner had it backwards. Backho is charging fine and my tach even works!. Now on to a intermittent wiper blade issue. I also changed rear axle fluid twice as it was black and brakes work queitly again..also changed trans fluid and coolant. I was also able tk get all my filters at Maritjme case dealer for a very reasonable price. There is no new holland dealer close to me.
Member Would you guys reuse this hydro fluid..got 3 5 gallon buckete iut of here bht cant get the bottom tank drain out for the life of me..got the offending crushed hose tho.
That's hydraulic fluid? Mine looks like honey or new motor oil. That looks like something else? I would not put that back in my hydraulic system.
that looks like a raditior hose and engine coolant just saying!!
Yeah they used a rad hose for the supply line to pump but that most definitly is the hydro fluid i took out..i even opened the port on side of hydro tank and sponged everything out cause the previous owner stripped the drain plug so bad i ciuldnt get it out..put a total of 80 new liters in and a new filter..probaly have to flush it again after winter..arghh..lol
When i got the machine there was no oring left in hydrolic tank cap..think rain water could have got in through there causing that milk?
Yes,definitely, unless it never ever sat out in the rain or snow.
This machine has never seen over head protection..lol..i put a new oring gasket on it..k just hope thats enough..ran the tractor hoe for 20 mins thinkin the fluid would mix up and look crappy again but it hasnt yet..
Went and dug another little hole in the dark they cracked open that vent cap and it made of whoosh..i couldnt tell if it was air in or out..i think it was out. Are these tanks suppose to be under pressure like some case,s(680 or 690) that i have read about or do i need to clean up that cap to get it breathing? I havent cleaned it yet just put an o ring on it. Thanks and this forum had been a life saver for me already!
Also i know rookie question but i am one..lol..what is a good operating rpm for backhoe..it seems to run better at around 2000+ rpm then say1500. Is that normal? Also do most keep all their tires off ground when digging? So much to learn..lol..Thanks
Run it at a speed that you can control it efficiently and are comfortable with. I always leave the tires on the ground with the park brake on when using the bh. The tractor is much less likely to slide on the stabilizer pads.
The cap has a spring loaded vent and filter. I have pried mine apart and cleaned it a couple of times. Some pressure is normal but it should vent if the pressure gets too high.
Where abouts did you pry to get that cap apart? I cant for the life of me get it apart..lol
It wasn't easy. I just worked around it with a small screwdriver.
It is probably more responsive at a higher throttle but may want to run a lower speed to get used to it. If doing lots of digging probably wouldn't run it much below 1500 RPM. Not good to run diesels at too low of RPM for extended periods. An experienced operator would probably run full throttle because they could control the speed and like the faster response to input.
Got another question. What do you guys use in the front wheel hubs for oil? My operator book calls for the new holland brand hydrolic oil so i used some of the same hydro oil i got for the rest of the tractor from princess auto. (Compatable with wet brqkes says its good foe trans and final drives)the old stuff that came out didnt look pretty but had the consistency of hydro fluid. I feel like it should be a 80_90w gear oil in those front hubs tho..
Use what the book says, not 80w90. That's how most of these machines are setup I believe.
Did a little digging with the hoe this am and noticed the left side stablizer didnt really want to lift the machine..the right side no problem tho. Also when i held the stablizer lever down to keep lifting something felt clunky like a gear skipping almost..that cylinder does leak a bit and has a couple burrs in the chorm which i was going to polish out when i repack it with seals this summer..doesnt leak alot but theres always hudro fluid on the stablizer..
Also seems to make alot of hydrolic nosie when operating..all funtions work and hoe is sttong enough to lift machine. Is it posiable that some sort of releif valve is sticking? Loader works good too but get the same kind of hydrolic whine..might be normal..im not sure..
Im an idiot..lol..the stabalizer must have been in a bind cause i had the front bucket down and pressurer on the front of the machine. That combined with the terrain. I just went back out and tried with front bucket up and no problem lifting backend of machine... The hydrolic whine however has me curious. I also feel vibration on the suction line and tank but not the pump which i thought was werid..gonna try to upload a video of the nosie if i can figure it out..
sounds like the hyd pump is getting a low flow back to pump,, check for restrications filters, strainers, and bent or collaspied lines restricting flow... of course on hyd fliud in tank, older ford manual says to close all rod in cylinders and fill tank to proper lever GL
Couldnt post a vid to the site but i was able to upload it to utube
Jimg984. Thanks for the reply..things that i have done so far is change hydro fluid..cleaned tank and changed hydro filter..also took a good size kink out of the suction line...the only thing i didnt do was take the metal mesh screen in the tank off cause it looked good and i need a special tool to get it off..and its getting cold as **** outside here in new brunswick now..lol
Another thing i thought was odd is when i put the loader joysticker into float position it just curls the bucket back..i have never used or had a backhoe before but on all my ttactors that postion is the loader float..is it different on backhoes? Seems odd
One more thought..is this a releif valve on the backhoe control block? One of them drips and is always wet with hydro fluid..not sure what that means but all the other ones are bone dry..
Got a wrench made doe hydro tank filter thanks to nh575e!!
Plasma for the win!
