The 'ol Pete won't go and I'm warming up. It happens to be 15 below celcius. Truck won't start! Won't even a click. Started fine yesterday. Batteries are juiced up (lights are bright) but anything to do with the ignition switch doesn't seem to work, fuses seem to be fine. I'll start after the ignition switch next.
I'd start with the ignition switch. Get a tester and see if you have power to it. Then turn it on and see if you have power though it. If its that cold and it an old switch sometime then won't get contact at first wiggle it around. You might try running a jumper across the ignition terminals. Be careful!
There is no powere to the switch. Power should run from the battry to the starter to the switch to the accersories and back to the starter. correct.
You should have a pretty good size wire coming off the positive post on your starter solenoid to your switch. It should be 10 gauge or so.
Ok turns out that the solonoid on the firewall had a loose coroded terminal, cleaned it up and we're off to the races. Cheers Lash lander!
solinoids Ya those solinoids will fool ya some times. Had one on my IH that would test good with a test light but just wasn't getting enough juice through to engage the bendiks on the starter. When in dought change it out, cheaper than a starter change and a whole lot cheaper...:Banghead
