Older machine versus newer

We are a building company and are looking at a few different machines for general construction. We have located a 1999 Cat 313B with 3400 hours but our question is even though it is a low hour machine will the age be a factor? Our other option is a 2006 machine for quite a bit more money. What will the biggest differences be in technology and will it hinder the performance of the machine enough to make a decision? Thanks, all input welcome!

I am familiar with that model Cat and they are a good machine. I would think it does everything the new machine would do and probably just as quick and they are very low hours it would just come down to condition and reliability of the machine. I have a 1996 25 t machine at the farm and drive brand new 16 and 17 T machines at work for a living as far as function goes there is not a huge difference its just reliability that counts.

Thanks for the info. We are going ahead with the purchase on the 1999 cat. With 3400 hours it should last us!Any advice on upgrades that can be done or things to watch out for? Looking forward to getting it to work, thx
