production numbers for a d4

hey guys, quick question, we are bidding on a project where the owner is adament on us doing the topsoiling.. they are going to do it in 7000' sections by 30' wide and 4" thick.. whats a safe number a d4 could push in a day, square yardage wise. ive never done any spreading jobs this large and would like to get this job, but dont have much experience estimating it.. the gc we are working for will spread the topsoil out with offroad trucks whereever we want so trucking is no issue. we are a union shop so i plan on getting a good guy out of the hall to run the dozer so im not worried about an operator too much... any input would be great.. thanks

What's the slope? If it's flat and already prepped and the trucks are steady and can dump right in front of the dozer you could finish 400' or more linear an hour. Have a man on the ground checking depth and spotting trucks. Do not let the trucks dump out ahead if you can avoid it. Don't let the trucks run on the topsoil. Clean up at the end of each day so the dozer can keep up with the trucks. If you have a 3:1 slope or steeper you may need to track walk it in vertically. Without seeing the site that is the best I can offer . . .

Just curious Hydro101, was my reply to your question not what you expected to hear? What "info" are you looking for? How to convert 30' X 400' to square yards? Were you thinking my estimate of 400' per hour was too much? not enough?

no i wasn't looking for conversions.. just prodution numbers, like a dozer can spread xx amount of s.y. in a day.. thanks

Hi Hydro101, I just wanted to check in and see if you got the job and if so what kind of production you got out of the D4.
