Rolloff Dump Trailer Pictures. Roll Off

TunaTime ยท 2010-12-01 17:54

Located In Bakersfield Calif. One trailer for most applications, one registration. Better than having 10 trailers & paying for all those DMV fees.

Rolloff trailer 2 Same size rolloff width as a rolloff truck. Reeving hydraulic cylinder winch systems. Honda engine direct drive hydraulic pumps.

Mini Hooklift Trailer Little hooklift trailer with pintle hitch, 2 x 7k axles, led lights, backup beeper. Great for small job sites. Box was 8ft x 8ft x 4ft high.

Ideal Rolloff Trailer. Dump Roll Off This is the last one I built. 2 x 10k HD oil bath axles, 30k gooseneck hitch, 13hp electric start Honda engine, hydraulic cylinder winch reeving system with 5/8" cable, front hydraulic jack, led lights, backup reversing alarm. Also the trailer can haul & dump 12ft, 14ft & 16ft long beds/bins. Plus the frame width size is the same as a rolloff truck. Beds also go over the fenders, instead of between the fenders. Over 34yrs in the field.

  6. #6Maximwaste2011-03-21 12:05

Good looking trailers. I am considering selling my one ton dually to get a med duty hooklift truck, but could be a great option to keep the pick up and eventually add on a med duty rolloff truck or hooklift truck. This would be a good way to keep my truck for personal use as well. Do you fab the containers as well and if so could you do containers that are setup for cable and hook?

  7. #7TunaTime2011-03-21 12:39

Yes, we fab containers too. These rolloff trailers have a standard rolloff truck width frame. So a standard box container would fit. As long it is the same length.

20ft Rolloff trailer 20ft rolloff trailer with 12k axle & 17.5 tires 16 ply. 5" bore cylinders on hoist & winch, 3/4" winch cable. can haul & dump 14ft, 16ft, 18ft & 20ft long beds/bins. Trying to load pictures. Site is saying to downsize pictures. How do you do that.

  9. #9mike s2011-05-30 03:11

Thatis a nice setup! A friend of mine has the cheap 10k goose neck trailer that falls apart every day.

  10. #10TunaTime2011-05-30 14:07

Roll Dump trailer Thats what happens. People go for the best price. You get what you paid for. You pay now or pay later to keep fixing it. Most builders use dump trailer frames & convert them to rolloffs with electric winches. The concept is there, but not the structure. I have been in the industry approx 35yrs & build these, like I am building for myself. Not in the door & out the door. Sometimes you look at the welds on other trailers, thinking I could chew bubble gum & use it, & would stick better.

  11. #11TunaTime2011-05-30 18:52

    20ft rolloff Pictures 20ft rolloff trailer can haul 14ft, 16ft, 18ft & 20FT beds/bins.

  12. #12E Smith2011-05-31 22:29

A friend of mine asked me about purchasing a dump trailer, and I do not know enough information about them to answer questions and help out. Does anybody have any suggestions about things to look for in a dump trailer? I know he is looking for good quality that will last a lifetime. Thanks for any advice!

  13. #13TunaTime2012-03-22 14:32

Yes. You can build, haul & dump all sorts or containers or beds. As long it is compatible to the frame length off the rolloff frame.

Rolloff Trailers Winches A lot of people have called that they have purchased other builders rolloff trailers with a small electric winch setup that has fallen apart. They are okay if you use them once in a while, but not for a day in day out application, such as picking up 4-6 dumpsters in a day. That is why rolloff trucks go with a hydraulic winch cylinder reeving setup. You are not going to get enough charge from your vehicle to charge the batteries on the trailer. Especially if the trailer has been sitting awhile with no use. Also the electric winch cables have to wrap around a small spool or drum, the cable overlaps, gets squashed, plus the cable will have a spiral or memory when you pull the cable out to the dumpster or bed. Reeving systems keep the cable straight. Sometimes I see the cables last up to 10 years on this system.

  16. #16TunaTime2012-12-26 18:28

Rolloff Trailer Alot of customers have been calling why I dont use a electric over hydraulic pump setup. They are only approx 1gpm verses a wet kit setup with a aux engine running at 4 - 7gpm.

  17. #17Dualie2012-12-29 00:49

winch tensioners are very common on wrecker applications.

  18. #18Gooseidi2013-01-11 00:02

The 20 footer looks really nice. What kind weigh carrying capacity does it have with say a 15 yard container? My brother uses a GMC 4500 series truck with a Stellar hooklift. The biggest problem is that the truck is nearing its gross weight rating with an empty can on board. A trailer like this would allow me to use his cans and deliver for him when he is in a time crunch. Pretty interesting......

  19. #19TunaTime2013-01-11 12:05

Roll Off Reply Hi. It depends on the axle & tire ratings. The 20ft GN trailer pictured has 12k axles. Trailer also has 5" bore hydraulic cylinders on the hoist & the winch, with 3/4" winch cable. 10" tube frame. It weighed approx 7,600lbs empty. A 20ft x 4ft sides with 12ga box is 26.7yds weighs approx 3,800lbs. = 11,400lbs box & trailer empty. So the payload would be approx 16,600lbs. If the trailer had 16k axles & 17.5 tire/rims payload would be 24,600lbs. If you put a 16ft x 4ft tall sides box on the 20ft trailer, it would be 17.8yds which would give 600lbs more of payload. A 16ft GN trailer with 10k axles weighs approx 5,800lbs with 4" bore hoist & winch cylinders & 5/8 cable. 8" tube frame. 16ft x 4ft tall sides with 12ga box is 17.8yds. Weighs approx 3,200lbs. Payload approx 15,000lbs. It depends on the box sizes & thickness on the floor/sides for empty weight. 16ft trailer can haul & dump a 12ft, 14ft & 16ft box. A 20ft trailer can haul & dump a 14ft, 16ft 18ft & 20ft size bin. Plus the bins go flat over the fenders, not between the fenders. These are gas engine driven hydraulics. You could also run a wet kit line setup from the vehicle you are pulling with, as long you have the oil reserve capacity.

  20. #20fast_st2013-01-25 11:59

Some great looking dump trailers, I like the flatbed and container options esp with a dual tandem setup

  21. #21TunaTime2013-07-01 22:01

Here is a 20ft rolloff trailer that is ready for delivery. The container is a 20ft compactor for house to house & the top is for a forklift bin dump. The hydraulics for the compactor run off the trailer. Trailer has a 23hp Kohler engine, direct mount hydraulic pump setup, twin return hydraulic filters, hydraulic divertor valve, hydraulic radiator with electric fan so the oil is not cooking. 2 x 16k axles with 17.5 16 ply tires, 30k hitch with 7ft reach, hydraulic cylinder reeving winch system with 3/4" cable, 5" cylinders on the hoist & winch. Trailer can also haul & dump 14ft, 16ft, 18ft & 20ft beds/bins. For 20ft sea containers you can lock the subframe on the trailer & still use the same cable system to pull the sea container onto the subframe. There is a lot of versatility on this trailer, instead of having different trailers for each application.

Is it possible for the trailers to work as a tag with a pintle hitch? Or is it better to have the maneuverability of the fifth wheel? * I was inquiring about how this would work with an existing truck that was say for example a water truck or a dump truck? both can be used unloaded as a prime mover, just has to be tag hitch mode instead of fifth wheel. Once the trailer wt goes over 10k, the CDL requirement comes along .... and the MCP with 'true insurance' and maybe even BIT. But perhaps the HD pickup or a one ton or HD one ton rig isn't adequate for the heavier weights?

  24. #24TunaTime2013-07-08 20:59

Yes. You can have it as a pintle hitch style with self contained hydraulic setup or run a hydraulic wet kit off the truck if you are running a water or dump truck. If going with a longer trailer, a heavier class F450-550 or Kodiak with a hotshot pickup bed to get away from a commercial bed setup. The freeway truck scales have a sign that says no pickups, so that's why I like a bigger truck with a RV style pickup up bed straight from the dealer.

Rolloff Beds Same customer with 20ft rolloff trailer ordered a 18ft long dirt box & a 22ft long equipment HD flatbed. 18ft box on top of flatbed for delivery.

  29. #29Simplize2013-11-30 15:43

Nice roll off trailer. I like the concept of different styles & sizes of beds that you can haul on one trailer. Better than having many trailers for different jobs.

  30. #30gwhammy2013-12-04 06:59

    That's a really neat setup. I'm jealous.

  31. #31TunaTime2014-01-21 17:37

Also for a option, you can get the dumpster bins to have a door in a door. Just like a dump truck, where you can top hinge the inner door & open a few inches to spread gravel or sand on streets or driveways. So many options.

  32. #32TunaTime2014-04-29 20:44

Just finished a 20ft rolloff trailer with a 20ft x 5ft tall side box & a 16ft x 4ft tall side box. Site will not let upload pictures.

    20ft rolloff trailer with 2 x 12k axles. One box is a 20ft long x 5ft tall sides approx. 27.75yds. 2nd box is a 16ft x 4ft tall sides 17.8yds.

  34. #34TunaTime2014-09-27 16:00

The beast with ultimate power, I like the hood of this trailer very much.

  36. #36TunaTime2014-12-20 15:08

This trailer has a 23hp Kohler engine, radiator with electric cooling fan & a double return hydraulic filter set up for running a compactor house to house pickup. Radiator cools the hydraulic oil during the hot summer months. A diverter valve can be switched from the trailer hydraulics to the compactor or other hydraulic applications.

20ft rolloff with 2 x 16k axles. Box is 20ft x 7ft tall 38.9yds. Rolloff HD flat deck is 22ft long. Seen many cheaper built units that use a D-ring that is welded 2" to 3" to the front cross member of the boxes, for hooking up a winch cable. Kind of cringe at that one.

    20ft Rolloff trailer

  70. #70TunaTime2018-09-01 17:36

20ft & 12ft trailer with texas wide rolloff frame. Top frame rollers, instead of standard side rollers. 47" outside width frame verses 34" west coast standard frame. Tow truck style hook at the end of winch cable instead of pear link for rolloff box hooks. Reeving hydraulic cylinder winch system instead of drum electric winches, 3/4" & 5/8" thick rolloff cable, instead of a 1/2" that wraps around a small winch drum & gets squashed, twirls & like a dangerous spring if the cable is let loose out of you hands. A true rear hinge. Not door style hinges stacked 4 or 5 across on the rear cross member. Honda engine driven hydraulics, verses electric over hydraulics that drains battery power after many container pickups per day usage. Welded hydraulic cylinders verses tie rod style that has 4 long rods to tighten the end caps. They are prone to stretch & leak down the road. Higher dumping angle to get the debris out of the container. Hoist cylinders are facing forward to get more leverage, verses picking up the center of the rolloff frame area.

There are a lot of trailer builders that build roll off trailers, and are welding d-rings on the front crossmembers on the rolloff boxes for hooking a winch cable to. They are only welded 2 to 3". D-rings are only made for securing a load with a chain, not for winching loaded rolloff boxes. I get a lot of complaints of customers buying other builders rolloff trailers. Batteries going dead, hydraulic cylinders leaking, winches breaking down in the middle of their job, structural components breaking or cracking. You have to build them right the 1st time.
