Hello I am in Canada and was wondering if there are any rumors that are or are not true to the Heavy Duty Field? i.e everyone hurts their backs and has to retire early rumor or no jobs left after oil market dropped?
Lots of hurt backs lots of pain in general don't rush use lifting equipment as necessary
I guess I don't know where this is coming from or where it is going toward. Physical problems are probably no different that most other complications requiring actual labor. Lifting and handling equipment is better, less expensive and more available now than ever. The type of work accomplished is also changing. Lots of computer stuff, not near the heavy lifting or pulling as in years past and plenty of power equipment to ease to ease the strain on the body. As for the market for this kind of labor dropping, that also goes with any type of occupation. The thing is that a competent mechanic is an occupation that has great diversity. There are so many parallel industries that a motivated person need never have to be out of work long due to economic condition. You might be in the oil fields this year, agriculture next, logging after that and finish on the docks or some process type plant. Your career can be as varied as you want to make it. If you like challenges, the outdoors and using your head continually this is as good as any occupation to get into. It isn't easy but for me it beats sitting at a desk pounding a keyboard.
I am guessing that there is a suggestion in this that an inordinate amount of back injuries happen to be occurring as a way to survive during the current oil field slow down?
I have a suggestion. ....and this may sound crude' go to "My Profile " (yours) and fill it out! Yeah, put your age in there too, eh? And Canada. .....Province? Or city? err....occupation. ....errr if you're just another, Victim of Public Schooling ' List that too. what's your favorite video game. ...list that too.
