HEy guys, two issues here first being that my terex is sluggish, it has the 2 speed allison in it, just today i drained the fluid and filter, im awaiting a new filter to put into it. The fluid that came out didnt look very dirty and the filter seemed clean, the strainer was also pretty clean. on flat surfaces it seems to come up to speed ok, but when climbing even a slight hill it almost wont make it, and thats when the bucket is empty. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what may be the problem? then the heat, i took out the heater core today thinking it was plugged which it wasnt. I checked the hoses and they both had valves on them one was open and one its impossible to tell because it just spins around in a circle and there are no markings. Any ideas off hand?
Well, it is a Terex. :beatsme Does it slow down more when it is hot? Did it get weaker all of a sudden or gradually? Sounds like it might be the torque converter. On the heater you might want to check that the hoses are hooked up correctly (one from the head should go to the top of the core). It sounds like your spinning valve may be caused by the valve handle breaking loose from the shaft that actually operates the valve, if that is the case it could be closed and you are just spinning the handle. If that is the problem you may have to remove the handle and turn the valve with a pair of vise grips. In either case the valve should be open when the handle is up (opens the gate by screwing out). Or it might be that it is not a very good heater, I know that the one in my Terex loader works poorly at best.
terex Well, needless to say ive found the heating problem. Whoever put this motor into the machine put a motor in that didnt have hookups for a heater system. They plumbed two pressure lines to the core so the hot water gets to the core, but cannot flow through the core. I gotta fix this by pluming a nipple into the suction side of the water pump and then ill get flow. As far as the sluggish problem, is there a way to test for a bad tourque converter? is there any tell tale signs that it may be bad. This machine will barely climb a hill empty, nevermind push a load of snow or pickup some dirt. Any suggestions are appreciated!
problem solved! Just wanted to make an update. The issue with this loader was the injector adjustments. Apparently the " diesel mechanic" started to adjust the injector rack, stopped halfway through, leaving two mis adjusted injectors, and two injectors way off. My diesel mechanic looked at it, made a few rack adjustments and now the machine can move mountains, its like driving a corvette...just wanted to let you guys know!
Glad to hear it was just a simple adjustment!
