Small engine help!

wrenchN ยท 2015-04-05 20:42

Any wrenches out there good with small engines, specially a honda on a jumping Jack. I work on big iron all day but this jumping Jack was given to me to fix and it has me dumb and irritated. Any help would be great. Going to try to take some time this week and get her going. Thank you.

A little info about just what it is doing (or not doing) would help.

Honda gx100 on it. I have spark now had to replace ignition coil. Spacing on coil is within spec. Has new carb on it fresh out of the box. Checked valve lash it was good. Has fuel flow. Exhaust not clogged. It just will not fire off. Pull pull pull all day she won't fire off. Stupid simple setup that has me stumped. Can't even get it to fire with ether.

I'd check the compression and then the timing. Is it pulling air through the motor? Does the muffler smell like gas after cranking?

try a fresh plug. had the same problem plug even tested ok but in the cylinder would not fire

Second the new plug. If you can feel the compression on that small of an engine it should start fine. Typically it would take something like a sheared flywheel pulley to throw off the timing.

Indeed Ive seen plugs fire outside the cylinder but not inside....
