Steering wheel knobs

I have a question for everyone. Are steering wheel knobs (on trucks) legal or illegal in your areas? I think that they are illegal here, unless one is needed due to being handicapped. I've never found any regulations confirming this...yet. If this topic has already been discussed, then my apologies..

I can't speak of trucks, but MSHA restricts steering wheel knobs on all mine equipment. If the knob is OEM, like the T-handle in a Cat 980G loader, then it is fine. This came about couple years ago with a series of accidents due to faulty steering wheel knobs.
