Switching to 21L-24 tires from 19.5-24

Need to replace rear tires on TLB. Currently has 19.5-24 on a 16 inch wide rim. Would like to go to 21L-24 tires for the extra floatation. 21L tire calls for an 18 inch rim. Has anyone put 21L - 24 tires on the narrower 16 inch rim? If so how has it worked out? I'm sure technically they could be installed but am concerned with bead slip or sidewall issues.Haven't had any luck finding used 18 inch wide rims and new are crazy price. Could also widen out my existing rims but it would be quite a bit of work.

Putting a wider tire on rim that is narrower than it was designed for will increase the outside diameter of it when it is inflated. IMHO Clearance issues may be a problem because of the larger OD and the width increase.

Valid point. The 21L tires are offered as an option but use the 18 inch wide rim. I think clearance wise I will be OK. More concerned about potential tire issues.

How about replacing 17.5-Ll24 with 19.5-L24
