So i am new here and asking for ideas or suggestions on my t190 that has stumped 2 heavy mechanics Machine is 2011 T190, 3000h, foot controls, no hiflow, no codes, drives great, lift arms and tilt work great sometimes, not sure about aux only use a snow blade on them, belt has been checked for tension, all new hydrulic filters (3), and fluid (bobcats all season, same as its always run) Main relief valve in hydraulic controler has been replace. The problem is intermitant but seems to be happening more often, machine may be fine for a week or so, and will start and stop haveing issue in same run. I'm losing my lift power and tilt, only up, it will slow right down or come to full stop, but its intermitant, (so pump is assumed to be good, both mech. Said same thing, pumps don't die and come back) and drive is fine, also tilt down and arm down do not have an issue, they will lift the skid steer off the ground with no hesitation, and no lack of power, when problem occurs the lift arms and tilt with no load still will move up just slowly, add a load and they may come to a stop. Any ideas to point to one of these guys would be great, as there is alot of components in controler left, and im sure one of them must effect lift and tilt up. Just not sure which Thanks in advanced, i have read almost ever t190 post here and 1000 pages of shop manual. Lol,
Also i can leave arms up and walk away, they stay in place overnight, they do not fall.
What's your serial number.. Sounds like something in the control valve is giving you an issue. That is the only common intersection between the two circuts. Flow in flow out on demand from controls. When its starts acting up does it act like wants to move then you can work the pedals and it breaks free all of the sudden and starts working or do you have to just wait for it to decide to work ?
Have to wait till ot decides to lift, some times i can just drive around and when o try to lift again it will work, i can pretty much tell when its going to work cause when there is no load the arms will either be slow going up or fast when they are fast it works fine, when slow up will not lift up, just down, i was thinking a relief valve but mech, says the relief valves that we haven't touched wouldnt be affecting lift and tilt in up only. Which does make sence, but has us stumped. And its damn expensive having these guys just guessing at this point, i did read on a site maybe even this one a similar problem on another machine but his was the reverse tilt down and arms down, and his problem linked back to the aux. System somehow. But there waa never a fix reported.so im assuming this is not a common issue
I don't think it could be Aux related since Aux flow has to activated via its own coil/valve assay. The coil would either activated the valve or it wouldn't and the bang bang bang valve would be stuck if it had a fault. You would know if you had Aux flow engaged in the system at any point. Here again the only common point that your pedals share is the valve body. You could have a valve that is sticking when you push a pedal for function and is allowing a pressure to bypass . its got to be in the valve body somewhere. I would pull your valves out and check them over really well. Got to be something between those two causing issues. Like i said valve body its the only common point of intersection for hydraulic flow between the two functions. Do you have a bucket position valve on your machine ?
Is there an issue with the safety side of things not allowing full stroke of the control spools? We had one at work that turned out to be the solenoid that locks the spools.
Could be. But work no work them work work no work isn't pointing to one of the interlock soleniods to me.. Plus he has functions one way. A interlock soleniod should shut down pedal travel in both directions
Had a Volvo MC90B . Sometimes the joystick for aux function would get tripped. It was actually a lever on top of the travel lever. You could bump it getting in or out. It would stick and try jamming all the oil through the deadheaded circuit. The weird thing is, it didn't lug the engine, you could start the engine with the lever stuck but you had super weak hydraulics. Once we found it , everything regarding that control was polished and lubed so the spool could center itself . No more problems after that.
Unless the solenoid has something with the lock side disconnected and rattling around or magnetically is dropping out then recovering. Can cause the intermittent, a bump or shift in direction, a loose/corroded ground lead not always great connection?
Yes i do have a bucket position valve, i assume that is for the function of keeping forks level lifting? And the valve body you are talking about can be found by following the pedals, this is great new info, and a new place to look. Really wish i was getting a code to help narrow this issue.
The main controller doesn't monitor flow from the main control valve, so no codes possible. I'd definitely be looking at that bucket leveling valve, possibly disable and bypass it as that's an option on those machines anyway, see if that makes your problem go away
If you have auxiliaries getting turned on while operating it could act just like that. I have seen it happen on a lot of different equipment.
Well sorry so long since last update, new mech. Did flow test 13.5 gpm and 1800 psi, he took it infront of controler, so he said pump needs to get changed, (i did tell him it works fine sometimes, he said readings do no lie, and pump is bad)he put new pump in, fired up today, Only no get 1800 psi, he is coming back with flow meter, and is now scratching hos head. And wants to dig into control valve, aux spool. Ugh.
So he did what and what ?? How did he check flow and gpm with out a flow meter in the first place and in front of what controller ??? Im confused as all get it.
He had a flow meter, he took reading after pump, and at auxilary, , so now he thinks its the bobtach lines, as he said they come right off the pump. So if it turns out thats what it was, means i didnt need a pump, waiting are parts to find out
Well bobtach piece taking off pump and hose connected, still same flow is 18.5 gpm, and 1800psi, this thing is driving everyone nuts, hopefully tomorrow , will get another psi reading from pump. And go from there
Is this a bobcat mechanic from bobcat or an independent guy. You can check all the flow specs in three independent checks.
Boy I would love to see a picture of that, it's awful tight back there and how did you make the connections? I'm thinking that the bucket position valve is the only place that would effect the tilt/lift function at the same time. I looked for my book on this but couldn't find it (must have lent it out, but to who?), never messed with that so don't know how to help trouble shoot this or bypass it. Maybe you can figure it out or someone will come to the rescue. Good luck
Ok, problem is fixed, so first mech. Installed the main relief and did not set, 2nd mech was told this, but said they are factory set and could not be out that far, but apparently they can, 120$ part turned into 8k repair, not happy, never needed a pump or any of the other parts needed.
I am glad that you got your problem solved. This sort of thing burns my ***. And if I was you I would be leaning hard to renegotiate the repair bill. In my experience relief valves do come set out of the box. What I don’t understand is how someone would go through all of the trouble of setting up a flow meter. Before pressure is checked. I am lazy by nature and I will do all the easy troubleshooting before I get into the more involved troubleshooting procedures. This is also where I have the rare opportunity of feeling empathy for the customer. I want to make damn sure that if I tell you you need to make a expensive repair. That I am right. I also don’t want for you to blow your wad with me troubleshooting the problem. I can understand the route the mechanics took, but I said it once and I will say it again. CHECK THE EASY STUFF FIRST.
Sorry to hear that but glad you got it fixed and thanks for posting the solution. Sad when someone has all the tools and information and still sting you like that. Hope you kept the contact info for the cat that fixed it. It can be a real pain to be the second or third guy in.
