I have a T444E in a 95 International 4700, it's leaking oil into the valley of the engine and running down the back of the engine and dripping from the bottom of the bell housing and wiring harness that runs under there. The HPOP appears to be the source of the leak, I washed the valley out to try to better pinpoint the leak. I can't see which part of the HPOP the oil is coming from though, is there a common place on the pump to leak?
If you aren't having any performance issues, it's most likely dry, baked o-rings. While you got her apart on the bench you can clean all the varnish off the ICP regulator stem.
Seems to run fine, are you taking orings on the oil lines leaving the pump?
Yes, the o-rings at the delivery lines, where the PWM valve screws into the body for controlling ICP. The body itself, if there's a seal kit available for it. High pressure oil that doesn't flow much creates a crap-ton of heat. That heat makes all those o-rings and seals brittle. That and just the fact she's 25 years old. It's time. While you're in the valley, if you're so inclined, reseal your turbo pedestal. No better time
Where’s the best place to get parts for it? International dealer? Usually people at Napa or Carquest claim they cannot find parts.
You should be able to look online and find parts/ seal kits for a 7.3 powerstroke. There's lots of forums dealing with the 7.3 powerstroke issues and you shouldn't have any trouble finding kits for sealing it up. The 444 and 7.3 are the same engine with minor differences in turbo/ water pump and a few other things.
For the HPOP, I'd go with factory. The parts lasted 25 years, the original equipment will give you 25 more.
Thanks for the input, I'll start shopping around.
Has anyone used HPOP kits from Diesel Orings.com? They have a good selection for the 7.3L but they aren't sure if the kits will fit the T444E.
7.3DI is the T444E
funwithfuel, was that supposed to be 7.3IDI or DI as in powerstroke?
7.3 direct injection or (DI) commonly known as power stroke before the 6.0. The old indirect injection (IDI) was not a HEUI , it was pump line and nozzle. Completely different animal.
That's what I thought, just wanted to clarify.
