Need to retorque the nuts on the tension rods on a case 580 se. These are in an opening in the floor behind the swing pedals. What size socket do I need? Thanks
The tension rod is an 1 1/4 inch. So, the wrench socket for it should be 1 7/8 inch. If they aren't loose I wouldn't bother with them. It usually takes a big azz breaker bar and a cheater on it to turn them. I never understood why they use lock nuts on them. The exposed threads are almost always rusty.
With the backhoe resting on the ground I can move one of them with my hand. Found a torque spec of 250 ft-lbs. Thanks
