grizly ยท 2012-08-12 09:01

I looked around the site but i couldn't find what i was looking for . Track Roller Maximun wear ? Although you can expect some wear i guess in track rollers ,just how much is possible before you destroy the shaft and or other pieces ? Mine on my D2 with some of them move with slop by about 4-5 mm. Not sure whether this is replacement time , or rebuild..hmmm...

Thank you OM looks like they are in a bad way, but will a rebuild kit work or best to buy new,Sorry for all these questions ,just need a bit of help. Thank you

Nobody is selling a kit that I know of. Rollers can be weld built up, new bearings and shafts might be available or would have to be made. The bellows type seals are unobtanium as far as I've heard. Not really a practical choice to rebuild so it's either good used, complete new or the D3 option.

couldn't find much in the way of second hand rollers over the last week.Found a D2 being stripped for parts at a wrecker and parts supplier, but he says the rollers are in bad shape. It does sound as though there would be more than enough phone calls to find the parts than time i have...So i went and ordered 8 new rollers for $2390 ..including freight. I love the feel that a new set will give me,peace of mind...

At $300 each it's not worth messing with the old ones. I'm surprised you were able to get them from Cat. Are these D2 or D3?

I tried Tillys Crawler Parts in Queensland once for an aftermarket roller, they were so disorganised that I went with Cat before Tillys had even come up with a price.

OM ..They are D3 ,the the part numbers are 2818339 for single flange and 2818338 for double flange . i can actually get a couple of D2 actually...possibly more but not a full set , we didnt go any further ..D3 are there ,a bit of fuss like you said but hell why not.

Yeah Plant Fitter ,i always find Cat have a system that just flows when you need parts ,no messing around ,things are ordered ,no deposit necessary ,you get what you want from various dealers ..so easy.Still waiting for a quote from Tillys as a matter of fact !!

I think the Cat system is great as well. If you have an account with your local Cat dealer, you should be able to get them to set you up with an online account. Then you can log in to the parts store internet site, and have access to an online parts book. You work out what parts you want, and it lists the price and availability of them. That way you know how much something will cost and can decide whether to go through with it before you even contact you dealer. It is great for when you want to work it all out after hours when the dealer is closed.
