Hello all, dont get on here much and mainly used to post in other areas, but have kind of changed roles at work and am maily driving a Truck now. The truck i am driving is a UD GW 400 (nissian) 2010 model. I quite like the truck however there are 2 issues i find with it. 1, The gear change is sticky to say the least, some times it even doesnt want to come out of gear. Its a eaton 13 speed with overdive. Just seems that compared to simlar trucks you have to get it just right or you wont get the next gear, we have 3 other trucks with the same box , 2 Hinos and an Mack where they just flow into gear. Anyone have simlar experiences? Truck only has 47,000 kms on it, which is about the same as the Hinos> 2, No clucth brake, It has no button on the gear shift and pressing the clutch pedal fully to the floor makes no difference. I have only been in the truch for 3 months and am thinking that drivers in the past may have been pushing the pedal fully when chaning gears and so have worn the cluch brake out, but on a recent service our work shop where not able to fix it., any ideas? Thanks
Clutch adjustment is a common cause of both problems you describe. Not releasing all the way, maybe? Or else the clutch disc is warped causing it not to release fully? As far as the clutch brake, all it take is one guy who doesn't know not to push it to the floor half a day to kill the clutch brake completely.
Two-piece clutch brakes are available, for replacement without removing the transmission.
Must be the way they are .We have two UD 445's used in off highway work, they are the same hard to to get out of gear etc they have eaton 18's in them.I think it's the way the linkage is set up can't grease them the fine dust gets in.We have a smaller one with a Allison 6 speed auto it's the best Cheers Will
Yeah, one of the other guys at work was telling me that it has some to do with the linkages that make it different to other trucks, real pitty as its a nice truck to drive.
Thats what i was thinking, so when it went into our workshop for a service last week I asked for them to check, however our workshop are telling me it doesnt have a clutch brake. This I find very strange, if i get time later today I might ring the dearler myself and see if they can help.
I can't see how it can't have a clutch brake, that means you have to either grind it into gear every time you take off, or else remeber to puth the clutch in 5 minutes before the light turns green.... Maybe what they meant was that it doesn't have one any more since the last driver burnt it up
Seems they have found it, I had a day off on Monday and got back to work today, find 8 new tyres on the truck and no one knows anything but seems there is now a cluch brake on the end of the pedal. Not only do some of our drivers not understand how it works seems the work shop didn't. At least its better now. Worse time at the lights was the other week when doing night shift, no one on the road and working around the city, sitting at the lights and they go green, by the time i got it into gear the lights had gone back to red, lol.
