Have seen UTB Ag tractors before but not crawlers. The cab so far back and up high is unusual as is the blade lift. The ripper teeth in the 1st pic. look like they'd almost be parallel with the ground when all the way down.

This company sold a lot of wheel tractors and small dozers in NZ during the 1980's made under licence to Fiat . Neighbours bought one and the drive for the front wheels did not match the diameter of the wheels and had to have some cogs changed to fix the problem that caused it to jump out of 4 wheel drive . Hairy business going down steep wet tracks losing 4x4 . Still see both wheel and crawler's for sale , cheap always which they were to start with anyhow .

Thank you for your work, I saw it on the net in a used tractor market, what do you think of the Romanian Polish earthmoving machines from northern Europe and Eastern Europe, reliable sturdy durables with good performance, or rough rudimentary slow clogs, do you know any important brand that produces reliable machines? thanks for the additional news.

Hi everybody, I came across this forum since I searched für UTB crawlers on the net. Interestingly, I found a link to my video on youtube. Maybe I can bring some light to this thread, since I am interested in UTB crawlers for more than 10 years, especially the big ones S 1800 IF and it´s successor S 1801 IF (both crawler loaders; IF stands for "incarcator frontal" which means " front bucket with teeth") and the bulldozers S 1800 LS, S 1801 LS and finally S 1802 LS (LS stands for "Lama senile" which is another word for bulldozer, in romania written with only on l; lama alone means "blade"). Besides these types of crawler loaders and bulldozers, UTB also manufactured smaller ones, e.g. S 1500 LS and S 1501 LS, S 650 LS and S 651 LS (these also as crawler loader S 650 IF) and the smalles bulldozer was S 445 LS. I will come back on these machines later. Originally, UTB, which stands for "Uzina Tractorul Brasov" and means "Tractor building company at Brasov", Brasov is one of the larger towns in Romania), manufactured wheel tractors and crawler tractors for agriculture and became interested in earth moving equipement in the 1970s until about 1995. The 180X series of bulldozers and crawler loaders were NOT developed by UTB, but by a a small german company named MKW ("Maschinenfabrik Kiener Wasseralfingen" which means "Machine construction company with the name Kiener in a small town with the name Wasseralfingen) which specialised on bulldozers and crawler loaders which were named "Bueffel" which means "Buffalo". The UTB 180X series was originally called Bueffel B 180 (bulldozer) and Bueffel BL 201 (crawler loader) and UTB manufactured these machines under the license of MKW from 1973 to 1995. Here are some leaflets of the mentioned machines. More pictures and informations about these machines will come with my next posts. Best regards Bueffeljohann
