Dear Sir, we have volvo penta engine TAD 1241GE, its front main oil seal was leak so we have changed this seal with new original seal but unfortunatly the new seal again leak after 4days, kindly guide us as we follow the fixing instruction by manual but where we were wrong? or what should we take step to fix the seal again? I don't know how bad the leak is or how critical of service the engine is in, but I'd let it run and see if the leak improves or gets worse. Hard to say what you could have done wrong the first time. Was the sealing surface worn? might need a speedi sleeve? bearings worn and too much play in the crank? didn't scratch the crank did you? too much crankcase pressure, how's the blowby, and is the tube clean? Maybe you just got a bad seal. All this is assuming the seal is leaking between the seal and crank, not around the outside of the seal, stranger things have happened though.

A little oil smeared on the crankshaft and the lips of the seal will help it go on without getting torn. I don't know if this is kosher, but I use silicon/RTV gasket maker around the outside of the seal if the fit is questionable.
