just solved this one and hope it helps someone else out. was losing power and engine randomly shutting down. problem turned out to be abrasion through the bottom of the wiring harness where it goes over the top of the motor near the common earth and isolaton point. the loom is a bit of a pain to get into, but a couple of new bits of wire soldered or crimped in and some glue lined heat shrink fixes the problem. also run some extra abrasion protection under the loom there.
