I have a 2000 caterpillar 416c backhoe that when forward or reverse is engaged it is very weak feeling it doesn't jolt the tires like normal no matter the gear speed selected and it's almost a delayed engagement like a few sec however once engaged it is very weak feeling like it has no power however the engine runs idles and revs like normal and rpm goes up and Machine moves but very weakly. Like idk of it will load it self on a trailer weakly.
check the transmission
Welcome to HEF, Jonny ! If the transmission is full of oil you may have a torque convertor failing. You may need to use the backhoe to push it on a trailer.
So i we back out to mess with it some more and it was working again perfectly normal.... I moved a few hundred pounds of brush from a tree I cut up and after like 30 mins it was doing it again. Started taking a couple Sec to go into forward or reverse and then to just like it would start again acting weak would the tourque converter go in and out like that?
The transmission appears to be full and fluid doesn't look to bad.
