Can someone tell me what a hardnose is. This is specifically on a cat d6. Thanks ahead of time.

Its the big chunk of steel that surrounds the radiator.

So why would someone selling a d6 advertise it as a hardnose dozer?

    What kind of D6 is it? B, C, D, M, N, R or T.

cause a soft nose dozer is a cable unit

This old D6 has a hardnose on it, it's the piece that the lift cylinders are attached to.

You will see on the old dozers the very elaborate linkage that is used to raise the blade, both cable and hydraulic because the front of the dozer was not designed to handle the strain. This was partly because dozers were used as agricultural machines with no need for the extra strength on the nose.Eventually there became two different lines of equipment with the agricultural line being somewhat lighter duty to save on costs. There were several aftermarket producers of the linkage adapters for dozer blades in those days before the dozer manufacturers started designing their own setups.
