What light is this?

Mike L · 2020-07-13 18:04

cat 525c skidder. Light came on this afternoon and after a while the buzzer came on but everything is still working. Book shows this as indicator #21 and the description says it isn’t used which obviously isn’t right. I’m thinking something on the transmission but want to have a clue before I drive 80 miles.

Looking at the illustration in comparison to the actual pic, I'm wondering if you've got a slightly different model or generation . It doesn't quite look the same.

I had that thought but the book I’m going by came from the machine I have to look at. That being said, the light and buzzer didn’t come on for no reason and that’s why I’m asking

Definitely transmission related. Found the one TL642 manual I saved and every transmission related alert is inside that gear, but don't have the exclamation point one in the book.

Viewing the Diagnostic Codes with the Instrument Cluster The Service Diagnostic Mode of the Instrument Cluster allows service personnel to see the actual values and readings of certain components on the machine. Also, the Service Diagnostic Mode shows the faults that were detected by the machine ECM. The Service Diagnostic Mode of the Instrument Cluster allows service personnel to troubleshoot the faults that were detected by the machine ECM. While the Instrument Cluster is in the service mode, the diagnostic code for any detected fault of the machine electronic control system is shown on display (6) of the Instrument Cluster. See Illustration 1. Note: In the Service Mode, display (6) of the Instrument Cluster will show the values that are to a specific gauge. The values on the other gauges of the Instrument Cluster will not be accurate. The Instrument Cluster enters Service Mode when Service Mode switch (1) is held down for 5 seconds. The gauges will sweep back and forth. This will show that the Instrument Cluster is in the Service Mode. Press the Service Mode switch (1) once. The lower center display (6) will show the battery voltage and an icon of a battery will be illuminated. Press the Service Mode switch (1) again. The lower center display (6) will show all the CID-FMI fault codes on the machine at this time. The faults will cycle on the lower center display (6) at a 3 to 4 second interval. This shows that the machine ECM has detected an improper reading from a sensor or from a certain area of the machine. The lower center display (6) will show the active faults and the logged faults. ◦ The logged faults will show an icon of an open book in the digital display in order to show that the fault has been logged. ◦ If there is not an icon of a book in the digital display, then the fault is active. Press the Service Mode switch (1) again. The lower center display (6) will show the EID fault codes. Press the Service Mode switch (1) again. The gauge needle on hydraulic oil temperature gauge (5) will sweep back and forth. The lower center display (6) will show a value for the hydraulic oil temperature. Press the Service Mode Switch (1) again. The gauge needle on coolant temperature gauge (2) will sweep. The lower center display (6) will show a value for the coolant temperature. Press the Service Mode Switch (1) again. The gauge needle on transmission oil temperature gauge (4) will sweep. The lower center display (6) will show a value for the transmission oil temperature. Press the Service Mode Switch (1) again. The gauge needle on fuel gauge (7) will sweep. The lower center display (6) will show a value for the amount of fuel in the machine. Press the Service Mode Switch (1) again. The diagnostics will begin again. The diagnostics will return to the reading of the battery voltage. Press on the Service Mode Switch (1) for 5 seconds in order to leave the Service Diagnostic Mode.
