In the last year, a new tech thing has happend due to the EPA being the eps...lol, the new DPF system or the burner as I call it, its a cool idea to have but the problems that come with it are just stupid, whats your opinion on this new tech idea
Haven't seen any on machines yet, just trucks.
Just put 40 hours on a 963D with a DPF. It's at the R & D stage so can't say too much, but I can say there isn't a puff of smoke - ever! All you get is a bit of condensation on start-up. It's no detriment to performance, the only issue is regeneration, but that's being worked on. After 8 hours you can wipe a tissue round the inside of the exhaust and it's clean.
they sure are, and its not cool to have that truck down for like a week for the same bug that keeps comeing back over and over and over agin..lol, its to the point where I work, that if I hear of a driver going into 4th stage re-gen on the dpf, and it will not shut off, we just send that truck back to the dealer where we got it, and say fix this truck....lol
It reminds me of the days when catalytic convertors came out. No one liked them and vowed to remove them. many chiseled the restrictors out or the filler necks and put in regular gas. A few tanks later the convertors were plugged and they cried foul. Things have not changed. We are seeing DPF's in the new buses, They are working OK for the most part. They require an active regen. A light will com on the dash, and you have to initiate a regen. It takes about 1/2 hour to complete.
