ParticipantPut it on the floor the whole way. Don’t forget the ear plugs. You might have a little sanity left when you get home.

ParticipantAn update on this machine. It ended up being a broken sensor power wire on the sensor side of the plug.

ParticipantI would start by identifying the output terminals in the basket and checking voltage at them when each function is actuated. You need to try to determine if it is a problem in the basket or a problem with the wiring going to or from the basket. If there is not voltage at the output wire when that function is activated, you can use a jumper wire to put voltage to it to see if it will work. Just remember that function will be at full speed. The switches will be on/off and the joysticks will be PWM. Spend some time with the wiring diagram and it should be easier to make some since of it.

ParticipantDepending on the machine the DPF is not very hard to get out sometimes. Have it cleaned and you are starting with a fresh one. Just be sure to reset the DPF counter and/or ash load whatever your diagnostic tool has.

ParticipantThis is just kind of a guess, but it seems like some machines I have worked on when the soot/ash level gets to high they do not have enough flow to be able to get hot enough to regen. Seems like they have to be taken apart and cleaned/baked at that point. Maybe someone else can confirm if that is right.

ParticipantYour problem is most likely in the harness that goes up the right side of the boom. I start by checking that harness really well. From where it plugs in on the firewall up to where it goes into the boom. Very common for it to get damaged. The 8V sensor supply goes to several of those sensors and if it or the ground is broken it can set those codes. When you fix the problem the codes will no longer be active but they will be stored. You will need to use a diagnostic tool if you what to clear the stored codes.

ParticipantWhat all codes do you have?

ParticipantThe fitting does look a little crooked. Start it up and see where the oil is leaking from. Looks to me like oil has been leaking out of the top of the swivel.

ParticipantI think they made a few COE Transtar Eagle’s that had a 12v71. I read you could tell by the twin stacks if the truck was stock. You may have already covered this earlier.
Mr. Wrench
ParticipantThat thing would have a Detroit right? Maybe a 12V71.

ParticipantNice work!

ParticipantLooks like the rotary actuator needs new seals in it. It has been quite awhile sense I resealed one so I don’t remember a lot about it. You have to take the basket off first. I think I was able to set the basket on some blocks and retract the machine away a little without having to unhook all the wires. It don’t come apart real hard. Look up the service and parts manual on Genie’s website and you should be able to see how it works. Be sure to inspect and torque the bolt that holds the basket on. That’s what your life is hanging on! Sorry I can’t offer more specific help, it’s just been to long so I don’t remember much.
Mr. Wrench
ParticipantThat doesn’t look very good!

ParticipantWhat thread are you talking about?

ParticipantI’m not familiar with that machine at all, but is the injector pump getting a good supply of fuel? Sounds like it may be not getting enough.
